
Lead Cashier
The Lead Cashier is responsible
for assisting the Front End Manager in ensuring the efficient expedition
of customer sales transactions at the front registers. They will help
manage various aspects
of the Front End Department including training of all cashiers on Sunflower
Farmers Market
policies and procedures. They will be responsible for ensuring all cashiers
are executing accurate
sales transactions. They are required to assist customers as needed
and maintain a friendly,
energetic demeanor at all times. This position requires adhering to
all procedural guidelines set by the Front End Department.
| Responsibilities |
| o Assists in ensuring each
Sunflower Farmers Market customer who passes through the check out lanes
receives outstanding service; includes inquiring if any assistance is
needed, listening to the needs of customers, maintaining solid product
knowledge and thanking customers for shopping at Sunflower Farmers Market. o Assists in overseeing the accurate and efficient operation of all cash registers; includes cash management, balancing registers, making change, processing overrides, preparing daily deposits, approving returns and exchanges and monitoring high levels honesty and accountability of cashiers. o Assists with money related reconciliations for the Front End department as needed. o Ensures staff is trained on all policies and procedures of the front end department and loss prevention efforts. o Monitors that cashiers are properly verifying age of any customer buying alcohol (AZ, NM, NV, TX States only) prior to ringing and processing their basket of goods - requires cashier to have completed and received their TAM (Techniques of Alcohol Management) certification card. o Monitors that front end staff walk the store prior to their shifts to ensure awareness of promotional and sale items as well as weekly ad items. o Communicates customer concerns and request to management. o Works as a cashier and communicates the need to open lanes if volume dictates. o Other duties as assigned. |
| Education and Experience |
| ·
High School Diploma or GED equivalent and/or equivalent work experience.
· Should have 2-3 years previous experience working in a front end department at a high-paced healthy grocery retail chain. |
| Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities |
| o
Ability to process information/merchandise through the Sunflower Farmers
Market POS system; requires expert knowledge of ScanMaster software. o Advanced verbal communication and interpersonal skills for dealing cross functionally, as well as with employees, senior management and customers. o Must have advance knowledge of math, weights and measures; ability to read, count and write to accurately complete required documentation. o Must be familiar with Health Department guidelines and regulations as they pertain to general handling of food. o Must be proficient with MS Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel. o Must maintain the highest level of customer service at all times. o Must be able to work under high volume conditions with little to no supervision. o Ability to adapt and be flexible in a variety of situations. o Must have expert attention to detail. o Must have expert organizational skills and the ability to multitask. o Must be able to support and contribute to team goals. o Ability to work varied hours/days as business dictates. |
